Raymond Weitekamp
Raymond Weitekamp is the founder of polySpectra, a startup with the mission to accelerate innovation in advanced manufacturing. polySpectra's core technology is based on a discovery he made during his PhD research at Caltech, which provides a fundamentally new way of fabricating advanced materials. This process, termed 'functional lithography', enables energy-efficient manufacturing of complex part geometries with tailored properties, with the potential to unlock a new paradigm of sustainable, democratized manufacturing. Broadly, Raymond's scientific interests lie at the intersection of chemistry, physics and sustainability. Outside of polySpectra, he is an investigator on an ARPA-E funded research project to making an inexpensive, DIY coating to improve the energy efficiency of single pane windows. Approximately 4% of all U.S. energy is lost through windows; the goal is to dramatically lower the air-conditioning requirements of buildings in warm climates. In his free time, Raymond makes music under the moniker ingMob.
