Patrick Terry
Patrick Terry grew up near Abilene, Texas. If you know anything about West Texas, there’s still not much to do out there, so folks spend time hanging out at restaurants. For Patrick, it was Mack Eplen’s hamburger stand. His second home became his inspiration, with the happy memories spent at Mack Eplen’s driving him in his own delicious endeavors.
On July 6, 2005 Patrick Terry fulfilled a 20 year-old dream - he and his wife, Kathy, opened the very first P. Terry’s Burger stand at the corner of Lamar and Barton Springs. As the first drive-thru restaurant in Austin to offer all-natural beef and chicken along with freshly cut french fries, P. Terry’s quickly established itself as an alternative to regular fast food fare. Today there are fourteen P. Terry’s locations, all in the Austin area. Patrick oversees his business as CEO, while maintaining a family-run restaurant mentality. He keeps his door open to all his employees, and still ensures that each one receives a homemade cake on their birthday.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Patrick began his career in advertising at Tracy-Locke/BBDO in Dallas, where he worked on the accounts of Philips Petroleum, Ben Hogan Golf, and Frito-Lay. Patrick came back to Austin in 1985 as the Director of the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission where he oversaw Texas’ 150th birthday in 1986. Before opening P. Terry’s he created Rizano’s Italian restaurant with two locations which he sold in 1993. Patrick and Kathy have two children, Kate and Caroline.
