Vania Masias

"Vania is dancer and entrepreneur from Lima. She was principal dancer at the Lima Municipal Ballet for seven years, after which she ventured into modern dance and toured internationally through Europe and the Caribbean. After being prima ballerina with the National Ballet of Ireland and selected for Cirque du Soleil, she returned to Lima to launch D1 Cultural Association. She is D1’s general manager and choreographer, and has put on shows such as Mezcla, Coreografika, Tulima, Chasca, and Mas mezclados. Vania has also participated in the NY Choreographers Carnival and choreographed musicals like West Side Story, Chicago, and La Cage aux folles.
Vania is a Peru Brand Ambassador and is member of the Peruvian Ministry of Culture’s Consultative Council. She has been recognized as one of the 49 most innovative Peruvians ever and was awarded a medal of honor by the city of Lima in 2014. D1 Association is part of Coca Cola’s, Kimberly Clark’s and HP’s brand images. The World Economic Forum named Vania as a Young Global Leader in 2014, and she has taken part in TEDxPuerto Madero in 2012 and TEDxLima in 2014.
