Isabel Medem
Isabel, a Peruvian-German citizen, is co-founder and CEO of x-runner in Peru, a social enterprise that provides a dry sanitation product and service to low-income homes in the outskirts of Lima. She holds a master’s degree in International Business Management from ESCP Europe. While at ESCP Europe she focused on social issues related to economic development, and wrote her master’s thesis on economic empowerment through mobile technology in Sub-Saharan Africa. Before joining x-runner, she worked as financial advisor for a microfinance bank in Tanzania, Madagascar and Tajikistan. She currently leads an 18-person team that serves more than 3000 users of the x-runner system. Isabel received the Peruvian Social Innovation award from MIT Technology Review in 2014. She was included in Forbes’ world-wide 30 under 30 social entrepreneurs in 2015. X-runner was the first certified B-Corp in Peru.
