Laura Hayes

Laura Hayes is the food editor of Washington City Paper in Washington, D.C. where she is also the Young & Hungry columnist. Prior to joining the staff at the alt weekly newspaper, Hayes covered local and national dining for Thrillist, Food Network, Washington Post, Washington Post Express, Washingtonian, Edible, and others. She also wrote restaurant reviews for Arlington Magazine and Bethesda Magazine and has been featured on "The Kojo Nnamdi Show" as well as other radio and television programs. Hayes hails from Philadelphia and graduated from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with degrees in broadcast journalism and international relations. Hayes also worked as a junior high school English teacher in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan for two years and served as the communications manager for the U.S.-Japan Council (based in D.C.) for three years.
