Bob Rausch


Vice President for TransCore’s ITS Division with over 48 years of experience in the design and installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) including traffic management centers as well as the design and production of both hardware and software for a wide range of ITS devices and systems.
He has been active in the “Connected Vehicle” program since its inception and continues to be active in the ITS standards program in the US and internationally. He is a member of the SAE Dedicated Short Range Communications [DSRC] standards working group, co-author of the International Standard for the Vehicle-Infrastructure message sets, participates in several NTCIP working groups and was a co-author of the NTCIP standard for exception based reporting used for traffic control in New York City. He chairs the Transportation Management Data Dictionary committee for center-to-center traffic coordination. He is a member of the Advanced Transportation Controller (ATC) working group and co-chairs ATC Cabinet committee.
He is TransCore’s project manager for New York City’s Traffic Management Systems with over 12,400 traffic signals. He developed a city-wide Transit Signal Priority system for the City’s Select Bus Service which eliminated the need for expensive field infrastructure.
He was the Concept Development Lead for New York City’s Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Project and is now the Project Deployment Lead for the City’s connected vehicle implementation program. The system will deploy Connected Vehicle technology in approximately 8,000 fleet vehicles and 350 roadside units to demonstrate the safety benefits.
He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering from MIT and is a licensed/registered Professional Engineer in 22 States.
