Liz Lambert, Founder, Chief Creative Officer of Bunkhouse
Liz Lambert, the former attorney turned hotelier and designer, first purchased a seedy motel on South Congress Avenue 16 years ago, and transformed it into Hotel San Jose, which has become known today as the quintessential “Austin” hotel. The success of San Jose, which sparked a revitalization in the city’s now thriving South Congress district, led her to launch Bunkhouse group, a hospitality company founded on the pillars of design, music and community-driven experiences. In the past 16 years, she’s expanded Bunkhouse’s unique hotel portfolio to include El Cosmico, the community-lodging concept in Marfa; Saint Cecilia, the 14 room secluded estate in Austin; Hotel Havana, the historic property on San Antonio’s River Walk; and most recently has added the iconic Austin Motel, opening in March 2017; and Bunkhouse's first international hotel, San Cristobal, opening in Todos Santos, Mexico in April 2017, to their hotel portfolio. Lambert and Bunkhouse also operate Jo’s Coffee, the popular Austin coffee shop, which currently includes three locations.
