John Burk
John Burk is one of the founding partners of Concord Music Group, as well as President of the Concord Label Group. Under John’s creative direction since 1995, Concord has diversified its artist roster and grown substantially from a highly respected boutique jazz label to one of the largest independent music companies in the world with an active and diverse roster of some of the world’s most respected and talented artists including Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Carole King, Ben Harper, Booker T. Jones, Chick Corea, Paul Simon, Mindi Abair, Steve Martin & Edie Brickell, Gregg Allman, Nathaniel Rateliff, and St. Vincent. In addition to his role as a music executive, John has been a prolific and GRAMMY Award-winning producer himself, working with a wide range of artists including Melissa Etheridge, George Benson, Al Jarreau, Ray Charles, Paul McCartney, Jill Scott, Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, Ozomatli, Gladys Knight, Norah Jones, James Taylor and many more. A four-time GRAMMY award winner himself, John has produced well over 100 albums that have earned a total of 23 GRAMMY nominations and 12 GRAMMY Awards. One of his productions, Ray Charles’ Genius Loves Company, won 8 GRAMMY Awards, including Album Of The Year as well as Record Of The Year for the track “Here We Go Again.” John was also responsible for discovering and developing the career of Esperanza Spalding, who was the first jazz artist in history to win the GRAMMY Award for Best New Artist in 2011.
