Rosa Maria Paya

Latin American Network of Youth for Democracy

Rosa María is Licensed in in Physics, by the University of Havana. She graduated from Georgetown University of Global Competitive Leadership and Constitutional Studies programs. As pro-democracy activist she has directed activities of civil society in Cuba since 2009. She was part of the Liberation Christian Movement (MCL) Coordinating Committee. She was editor of Somos Liberacion magazine. She has participated in several international forums since 2013 as the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, the European Parliament, the United States Senate, the Organization of American States, the Summit of the Americas and several national parliaments.

Currently, she develops as President of the Latin American Youth Network for Democracy, present in 22 countries in that region. She works to promote international solidarity with Cuba, and end the impunity of the Cuban regime seeking justice for the murder of his father Oswaldo Payá, Sakharov Prize and the European Parliament and 5 times nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She coordinates the international and internal campaign Cuba Decide, seeking the holding of a Binding Plebiscite in favor of a change to a democratic system in Cuba.
