Jason Dusterhoft
Jason Dusterhoft currently serves as Assistant Chief of the Austin Police Department, overseeing the Support Bureau. His bureau includes the Special Operations, Communications, Victim Services, Technology & Support and IT Project Management divisions.
Chief Dusterhoft began his career at APD in 1995 after serving his country in the United States Air Force. He served within several divisions, including Patrol, Investigations, Training, Highway Enforcement and Technology, before rising to the rank of Commander in 2011.
As a Commander, he oversaw downtown operations and, under his command, crime in downtown Austin fell from a record high in 2012 to a record low in 2013. In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief. Chief Dusterhoft also recently graduated from the FBI National Academy in December 2016.
