Michael Young
Mr. Young has over 28 years of professional experience with the past 11 years at Caterpillar. He currently leads Caterpillar Ventures with a portfolio of investments focused on Energy, Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, and Digital/Analytics.
Prior to his current position, Michael led Caterpillar’s Mergers and Acquisition actives across Asia Pacific, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures. During his six years in Beijing, Caterpillar closed more than a dozen transactions, mainly focused on joint venture activities in China. He has also held positions at Caterpillar related to corporate strategy, business development, and M&A, all with a focus on driving growth.
Before joining Caterpillar in 2005, Michael was at Dell Computer for 6 years, including serving as the CFO for the China / Hong Kong business when it began operations in Xiamen China in 1998, and later leading their corporate venture capital operations in Asia, “Dell Ventures”, based out of Singapore. Before Dell, Michael held several accounting positions for Ethyl Corporation, including plant controller, divisional accounting manager, and international accounting manager.
Michael holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with concentrations in Finance and Accounting, and has been a CPA since 1989.
