Mr. Lowry has over 16 years of professional experience at Caterpillar. He is currently an investment manager at Caterpillar Ventures focused on Energy, Additive Manufacturing, Material Sciences, and Robotics.

Prior to his current position, Brian spent 15 years in product development with Caterpillar. He spent 10 years developing operator stations for a variety of Caterpillar machines from small construction machines up through the largest mining equipment. This provided Brian with a broad understanding of the different types and applications of Caterpillar’s diverse product line. In designing these complex systems, Brian gained experience in many areas including metallic and non-metallic materials, electronics and control systems, HVAC, and ergonomics.

He then spent 5 years in engine system development where he helped ensure Caterpillar systems were compliant with EPA and EU emissions regulations. In this role Brian gained visibility to the energy and transportation side of Caterpillar’s business with engagement in diesel and natural gas engines for Caterpillar machines, marine, electric power, oil & gas, and rail.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla, now the Missouri University of Science & Technology, and an MBA from Bradley University.
