Val Ackerman

Val Ackerman is the Commissioner of the BIG EAST Conference, a U.S. Division I intercollegiate athletics conference featuring ten nationally prominent colleges and universities, including Georgetown.

She previously served as the founding President of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and is a past President of USA Basketball, which oversees the U.S men’s and women’s Olympic basketball program. She was the U.S. representative to the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) for eight years.

She is a 1981 graduate of the University of Virginia and received her law degree from UCLA in 1985.
