Tom Pfeifer

Tom is a senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton. He joined Booz Allen in 1984 and has participated in the firm's evolution from privately held company to global, publicly-traded firm providing management and technology consulting and engineering services to solve our client’s most difficult challenges.

Currently, Tom’s technical and professional energy is focused on designing, developing and operationally integrating Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) transformative solutions for clients in the defense/intelligence, civilian, and commercial spaces. Specifically, Tom is responsible for building and leading a select team of highly talented, creative, and motivated engineers, software developers, data analysts, and cyber security experts focused on providing resilient solutions to our clients operating in highly contested environments.

Tom's team focuses on engineering and professional services across multiple markets. For example, for the Air Force, the focus is on modernizing and securing the GPS satellite constellation, ground system, and user equipment. For the Army, the focus is on providing a range of anti-jamming/spoofing capabilities leading to assured PNT for a myriad of dependent combat systems. For the Navy, the focus is on providing resilient and reliable PNT solutions for small craft –surface and sub-surface – leveraging a combination of traditional and non-traditional techniques and signals of opportunity. For the Department of Homeland Security, a key emphasis is on continuity of operation (COOP) for the 16 critical infrastructures that have become highly reliant on GPS as a free, yet highly vulnerable utility. For the Department of Transportation, a key focus is on securing the rapidly evolving sensor dependent “smart cars” and other vehicles.

His education spans economics, mathematics, and software engineering with both his Bachelors and Masters degrees earned from the University of Maryland.
