Tom Coates makes new things on the Internet. At the moment the new thing he is making is called Thington, which is a concierge for the Internet of Things. Previously he was Head of Product for the Yahoo incubator Brickhouse where he developed the pioneering location sharing project Fire Eagle. He’s also run a small R&D group at the BBC and has developed products for UpMyStreet, Time Out, Jawbone, Nokia and many, many others. He used to run a blog at plasticbag.org that some people seemed to like at the time. He’s had time to do all of this because he’s very old.
