Renée Schomp is a social justice innovator and lawyer. She created and leads the Rural Immigrant Connect project at OneJustice, which connects refugees in California’s Central Valley via virtual technology with pro bono lawyers at law firms and tech companies in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. Ms. Schomp has worked in New York, Detroit, Mexico City, and California on social justice issues ranging from counter terrorism and human rights to immigrants’ rights. She traveled to Guantanamo Bay to document the post-9/11 military commissions hearings for detainees and to Mexico City to help deported migrant families reintegrate into their communities. She led the nationally renowned Justice Bus Project at OneJustice, bringing legal services to military veterans, immigrants, and seniors throughout rural California communities. Ms. Schomp received her BA summa cum laude from New York University's and her JD from the University of Michigan Law School.
