Emily Furfaro
Emily Furfaro serves as the Social Media Specialist at NASA. In this role, she helps strategically plan and compose content for the flagship social media accounts, which have a reach of over 40 million people. She has also had the opportunity to help NASA create and build their flagship Tumblr blog, Snapchat and GIPHY audiences. She coordinates between internal social media users and NASA’s external followers to tell the story of America’s space program. She also plans and supports successful NASA Social events that take online engagement with fans and followers to the next level through behind-the-scenes, in-person experiences.
Prior to this role, Ms. Furfaro worked at Pace Communications in Greensboro, NC. In this role, she was responsible for representing the agency on a daily basis for their Verizon Wireless client.
Ms. Furfaro also served as an intern in the Office of Communications at the White House in 2012/13. In this role she helped compile polling data to draft talking points for senior level administration officials. She also worked closely with the Press Secretary’s office to compile daily briefing materials.
Ms. Furfaro graduated from Appalachian State University in 2012 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations. Following graduation, Ms. Furfaro served as an intern in the Office of Communications at the White House.
