John Osman
John Osman, Ph.D., specializes in catechesis with a special emphasis on inculturation and communication within the digital culture.
Currently the Director of Evangelization and Catechesis at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Austin, Texas, he has worked on the parish and diocesan levels to create programs such as a 10-month training for catechists of adults and online retreats.
John has taught graduate students on the history and theory of catechesis with an emphasis on media shifts, liturgical catechesis and religious communication. He has presented at various diocesan, state, and regional religious education conferences to hundreds of catechetical leaders on the topic of pastoral ministry in a digital age and currently teaches online graduate courses for the Loyola Institute of Ministry in New Orleans.
John holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla, an M.A. in Theology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and his Ph.D. in Catechetics from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
