Roya Rastegar
Roya Rastegar is the Director of Programming at the LA Film Festival, produced by Film Independent (Spirit Awards). She has also been part of the film selection process at Sundance and Tribeca, and was formerly a curatorial fellow at the Whitney Museum of Art ISP.
Rastegar earned her Ph.D. at the History of Consciousness program under the guidance of Angela Y. Davis. Her writing has appeared in international media outlets, including The Nation, The Huffington Post, and ColorLines Magazine, and scholarly publications, including Screen Journal and Camera Obscura.
Rastegar is also the co-writer of Wildness (2012), which premiered at the MoMA Documentary Fortnight Festival, the Whitney Biennial, SxSW, and won the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at Outfest. Most recently, she was awarded a Creative Capital grant in Emerging Fields.
