Joe Dickson
Joe Dickson is the Global Quality Standards Coordinator at Whole Foods Market. As part of WFM’s Global Quality Standards Team, Joe is responsible for developing and maintaining standards for food and non-food products sold in its stores, and steering the company’s work on food integrity and policy issues. He also works with Whole Foods Market stores to maintain the company’s status as the first national certified organic retailer. Joe served from 2010 to 2015 as the retailer representative on the USDA’s National Organic Standards Board and served on the NOSB’s Handling, Livestock and Compliance, Accreditation and Certification Subcommittees. He also serves on the Texas Department of Agriculture Organic Industry Advisory Board. He first fell in love with organic and sustainable agriculture while a student in New York State’s Hudson Valley where he earned a BA in Cognitive Neuroscience from Vassar College, and now raises sheep, goats and chickens on a small ranch outside of Austin, Texas
