Daniel Lipinski
Dan Lipinski is a proud native of Illinois’ Third Congressional District, which includes parts of the southwest side of Chicago, southwest Cook County, and northeastern Will County. Now in his seventh term, Rep. Lipinski has distinguished himself as a champion of the middle class. He is a leader on transportation issues, the promotion of American manufacturing, job creation through research and technological innovation, strengthening Buy American laws, restoring fiscal responsibility, and honoring America’s veterans and seniors.
Congressman Lipinski has earned a reputation as a legislator who brings people together to solve problems, even during historic congressional gridlock. He also believes a representative must be accessible to his constituents and spends most of his time listening to the concerns of those he represents. He is known locally for his top-notch constituent services and his work on behalf of veterans and senior citizens.
Congressman Lipinski earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and his Masters Degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University. He is one of only a few members of Congress with a background in engineering. This provides him with a valuable perspective on technology policy as well as science, math and engineering education, all of which are vital to our country’s continued success. Dan also has a PhD in Political Science from Duke University.
Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives in 2004, Dan Lipinski served as college professor where he taught college level American Government focusing on the legislative process, the inner workings of government, and the practice of American democracy. Lipinski taught at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Tennessee.
Congressman Lipinski is a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as well as the House Committee on Science and Technology.
