David Chao
David Chao is a Co-founder and General Partner of DCM Ventures, a global venture capital firm with over USD $3.5 billion under management. Prior to DCM Ventures, David worked at Recruit, Apple Computer and McKinsey & Company. He was also Co-founder, CFO and CTO of JCI Japan Communications Inc., Japan's first public mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Past DCM Ventures investments include About.com, Sling Media, Clearwire, Kabu.com, Kakao Talk, Fortinet, Vipshop, and 58.com. Currently, David is the Chairman of 51job and sits on the boards of BitTorrent, Eaze, RenRen, SoFi and other DCM portfolio companies. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Legend Capital in China. David was named as a Hall of Fame venture capitalist by Forbes in 2016. David received a B.A. with high honors in Economics and East Asian Studies (Anthropology) from Brown University and a M.B.A. from Stanford University.
