James Shapiro

James Emanuel Shapiro is the Chief Operating Officer of Drafthouse Films, the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, and was instrumental in building it into one of the industry's most respected curated brands. Over four years, Drafthouse Films has released 40 provocative, visionary and artfully unusual films and earned three Academy Award nominations. He also programs for Reel Grit as well as various other underground series and occasionally shows up on panels. James is based in LA, consumes too much rye, believes in the divinity of Kubrick, Galaxie 500 and the French New Wave, is an avid sports fan, loves his girlfriend Deb and their four pets and sometimes drinks from a volcano.
