Torrey Smith
Torrey Smith has established himself as a leader both on and off the field during his decorated six-year career as an NFL wide receiver.
The Ravens drafted Smith in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft after a stellar career at nearby University of Maryland, and he earned a Super Bowl ring with the club in 2013. Smith had an immediate impact on the team as a rookie before becoming one of the Ravens’ most successful all-time receivers. The Fredericksburg, Virginia native set team records for the most receptions (50), receiving yards (841) and touchdowns (7) by a rookie. He became just the third rookie in the NFL to have two games with 150-plus receiving yards and at least one touchdown reception in the same season since 1970.
In 2015, the San Francisco 49ers signed Smith during free agency. In his first season with the club, he became the first 49er to register three receiving touchdowns of 70-or-more yards in the same season since wide receiver John Taylor accomplished the feat in 1989. His 20.1 yards-per-catch average was the highest in the NFL in 2015.
Smith was released by the 49ers in March, 2017 and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles shortly afterward.
Smith’s work and accomplishments in the community are just as impressive as his on-field accolades. Torrey and his wife Chanel created the Torrey Smith Family Fund (TorreySmith.org) which provides youth with the tools they need to identify, unleash and reach their full potential. A few of the current programs include: L.E.V.E.L. Teen Summit, L.E.V.E.L. Up Camp, and the Tevin Jones Scholarship Fund. The non-profit remains based in Baltimore.
Torrey and Chanel are the proud parents of Torrey Jeremiah “T.J.” and Kameron James.
