Wolfram Kaehler
Wolfram Kaehler (b.1969) grew up in West Germany. As a youth he was active in self publishing by putting out fanzines. He started his college education in Nuremberg and continued at the University of New Mexico, where he graduated summa cum laude in communications. As a grad student, he accepted a scholarship to Michigan State University where he finished with a MA in telecommunications. During his studies he first got into radio by hosting shows a KUNM (NPR affiliate) and WDBM (MSU Student Radio). His professional carrer started at Discovery Networks, working in audience research. After moving back to Germany, Kaehler became part of hr XXL, a new public radio format for younger listeners. In 2000 he was recruited by WDR for its radio channel 1LIVE, the most successful an influential young radio format in Germany. In 2010 he was named Deputy head of programming for WDR 3, one of the biggest producers of cultural audio content in Europe. He also teaches at the University of Siegen.
