Jason Rissman

Jason is Managing Director of OpenIDEO, which harnesses the power of IDEO’s design thinking methodology to foster innovative communities around complex societal challenges. Jason works with leading companies, foundations and governments to design custom open innovation programs. Since joining IDEO, Jason has overseen over 20 open innovation challenges on topics spanning the social sector, from reimagining our end of life experiences to reducing food waste. Within IDEO, he is responsible for leadership of OpenIDEO and for helping the company explore the role of community in changing the world through design. He is frequently sought as a speaker, a workshop facilitator and an advisor.

Prior to his role at IDEO, Jason helped Google.org develop projects that utilized technology for social impact across a broad range of issues. He also helped Google launch its mobile advertising business. Jason originally hails from Chicago, where his interest in entrepreneurship began with a hot dog cart. He has lived in Nicaragua, Spain, New York, DC, and Ithaca. Jason now calls Berkeley home, and is the proud dad of two girls. Follow @jasonrissman on Twitter.
