Steve McLaughlin

Steve McLaughlin is the Founder and CEO of FT Partners and former senior banker at Goldman Sachs covering FinTech and Financial Services for over 20 years. Steve was recently named “Investment Banker of the Year”, ranked #2 Investment Banker in Silicon Valley by The Information and ranked Top 5 on Institutional Investor’s “Online Finance 35” list of most influential people in FinTech. FT Partners was founded in late 2001 and has won “Investment Banking Firm of the Year” four times since 2004, most recently in 2016. Steve has personally led and closed hundreds of FinTech transactions including having raised significant capital in the Alternative Lending sector for Greensky ($350mm), Kabbage ($135mm), Earnest ($75mm), Upstart ($35mm), Lighter Capital, Borro, FastPay and BlueTarp at cumulative valuations over $5bn. Other clients and transactions in the sector include AvidXChange, Prosper, Taulia, L2C, Webequity, Custom Credit Systems, and Google on their investment in CreditKarma. Steve has also completed many other transactions across the broad FinTech landscape including Heartland’s $4.5B sale to Global Payments, SquareTrade’s $1.4B sale to Allstate and Blackrock’s acquisition of FutureAdvisor.
