Syreeta Gates
Syreeta Gates is a Culture Creator with a focus on hip-hop and digital archiving. As founder of The Gates Preserve, she curates innovative experiences like Word IS Bond, a documentary film featuring the never before told story about the writers and journalists that created and shaped the language for hip-hop culture #WordIsBondTheDoc, as well as Stay Hungry, a unique hip-hop culinary experience that bridges hip-hop and food @YoStayHungry. Gates' archival work includes research for Nelson George's feature documentary, A Ballerina's Tale, and she also added her expertise on other art-oriented films, Finding the Funk and The Triptych.
Gates was awarded Glamour Magazine's "Top 20 Under 25" and she is highlighted in John Schlimm's book, Stand Up!: 75 Young Activists Who Rock the World, And How You Can, Too!," Adam Smiley Poswolsky's The Quarter-Life Breakthrough: Invent Your Own Path, Find Meaningful Work as well as Tony Wagner's book, Creating Innovators.
Holding a B.A. in Urban Youth Culture, the only degree of it's kind in the world, Gates is the former Creative Director of Travel Noire, a multi-dimensional platform for unconventional travelers. And in addition to her life as a Culture Creator, Gates is currently the VP of Culture and Dream Director with The Future Project.
