Matt Kaness
Matt Kaness was appointed CEO of ModCloth in January 2015, bringing with him over a decade of leadership experience at some of the most innovative lifestyle brands in the world. Since joining ModCloth, the company has debuted it's namesake ModCloth Signature product line in Fall 2015, opened its first permanent "FitShop" store concept in Austin, TX in November 2016, and announced achieving $150M in net revenues with full-year profitability in 2015.
Prior to joining ModCloth, Mr. Kaness had served as the Chief Strategy Officer for Urban Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: URBN) – including the eponymous Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People brands - where he was the lead corporate executive focused on growth and innovation for 7 years, contributing to URBN's growth from ~$1B to over $3B in total revenues.
Earlier in his career, Matt worked at Burton Snowboards in Burlington, VT, where he led a multi-year business transformation primarily focused on category management, product development, sourcing and supply chain. He was a manager at PRTM Management Consulting (since acquired by PwC), and was a Patent Examiner for the US Department of Commerce.
Matt holds an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Matt and his wife Theresa have three children and reside in Tiburon, CA.
