Susan Matney
Susan is a registered nurse and medical informaticist with a primary focus on knowledge representation using standardized terminologies such as LOINC and SNOMED-CT to facilitate interoperability. Her goal is ensure a ‘Nursing Voice’ in healthcare informatics standards (HL7) and multidisciplinary terminology development , which have been adopted by the US government, thus ensuring nursing data will be sharable and comparable between EHRs. She has advised the federal government in public committees since 1997. In 2002, she took LOINC to the American Nursing Association for recognition as a terminology for use by nursing. In 2007, Susan was selected as a pioneer in nursing informatics by the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) nursing working group, and in 2010 became a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
