Craig Watkins
S. Craig Watkins studies young people's social media behaviors. He is a Professor at the University of Texas, Austin, in the Moody College of Communication. His research has been covered widely, including the New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, and National Public Radio.
Craig is the author of three books. His forthcoming books, The Digital Edge (2017) and Rethinking the Innovation Economy (2017) explore some of the key shifts in technology, the digital divide, and innovation.
Currently, he is working on three initiatives. First, he is exploring how young people are leveraging technology, a changing economy, and social networks to remake innovation in media, design, education, and civic engagement. His second initiative is aligning with several partners to prototype an innovation lab that connects young people’s engagement with social and civic technologies to design challenges that encourage real world problem-solving. Finally, he is writing a report that assesses the state of Diversity and Inclusion in tech.
