Janneke Staarink
Since 2010 Janneke Staarink is managing director of International Film Festival Rotterdam, one of the great international festivals for independent cinema and one of the largest public events within The Netherlands. Janneke is responsible for the operational management of the organization, the financial policy, marketing and communication, education, production and volunteers, ticketsales, acquisition of subsidies and private and corporate sponsorships. Next to that she loves to develop new initiatives such as IFFR Unleashed (distribution platform for independent films) and IFFR Traveling Cinema and long term partnerships such as Rotterdam Xpanded (partnership with Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Kunsthal Rotterdam, City of Rotterdam and various companies).
Janneke is member of the Rotterdam Economic Counsel and member of the boards of Rotterdam Design Prize and #we25million.
After finishing her studies Facility Management at the Hanze University Groningen and Cultural Management at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam, Janneke worked since 1998 for IdtV in Diemen as assistant producer and production manager. From 2003 till 2006 she is executive producer of IdtV Events & Promotions responsible for the financial management and execution of large public events, the acquisition of external funding from private funds and sponsors, the human resource management and the realization of productions for commercial clients. Next to that she is responsible for the executive production of public and television events such as for the ‘Uitmarkt’ in Amsterdam, the May 5 Liberation Day open air concert in Amsterdam, the Introduction of the Euro event in Maastricht and the celebration of Queen Beatrix’ 25th jubilee in The Hague.
From 2006 - 2010 Staarink worked as business and later on general director for theatre festival Oerol on the island of Terschelling.
