Mental health awareness campaigns have been effective in letting people know they’re not alone, decreasing stigma and getting people to seek help. However, it’s time to move past awareness and start teaching people skills to address mental health challenges. We learn about our physical health from Kindergarten throughout the rest of our lives. As a society we need to teach about mental health in the same way. In order to effectively combat the mental health crisis we’re facing we need to change the way everyone learns about their emotions. This presentation highlights how Ross Szabo took his experiences with bipolar disorder and turned that into a first of its kind, nation-wide mental health curriculum.
