Girls and Sex: Navigating from Shame to Joy

Peggy Orenstein

For her New York Times bestseller Girls and Sex, journalist Peggy Orenstein interviewed girls ages 15-20 about their attitudes towards and experiences of sex. While many felt entitled to engage in sexual behavior, they didn’t necessarily feel entitled to enjoy it. In this session, Orenstein discusses that disconnect, its political and personal implications in young women’s lives and the imperative to talk to young women about sexual pleasure.
