3D Printing Hype Cycle: An Intro to 3D Printing

What is 3D printing? How has it changed in the past 15 years, particularly in the past two years, and what's in store for the future? The workshop will begin with a 15 minute interactive session on what they currently understand about 3D Printing. We'll have a live demo to review the different types of 3D Printers, FDM (MakerBot) and SLA (Form1+) and discuss some of their strengths and weaknesses. The bulk of the workshop is a 45 minute live demo of how to take a sketch on paper and turn it into a 3D Model, using Autodesk 123D Design. We'll then take the model that each individual designed and print it!
