Rise of the Niche Sport Magazine

Vinyl's back, and now dead trees: three magazine veterans talk about the power of the sports print vertical in a post-Grantland world. Great sportswriting is niche, but if you have the right business model, you don't need a huge audience to become self-sustaining and then profitable. Panelists will work through how to leverage digital channels to amplify reach via co-productions, social streams and podcasts, as well as how to reach a fanatical audience that will pay to hold a tangible print product. From crowdfunding to branded content to relationships with the pros, we'll talk about how independent publishers can not only survive but thrive in the age of the great algorithm.
