Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control, and Public Health Agency of Canada present their work with tech to tackle the burden of disease. Historically to understand chronic disease and health behaviors (nutrition, alcohol consumption, physical activity, obesity, and sleep) we have relied in part on self-reported information. The advancement and integration of technology has made it possible to understand behaviors and their relation to disease on an unimaginable scale, in real-time. Leveraging data from wearables, search and geolocation, public/private partnerships in the US and Canada are addressing these public health challenges in innovative ways.
