Reducing Violent Police-Citizen Interactions

Date TBA

Police shootings of citizens, particularly African Americans, have tempers flaring across the country. And citizen shootings of police have officers on edge. How can we enlist community members in efforts to reduce these violent events? This panel will bring together law enforcement, community activists, and researchers for a candid and evidence-based conversation on how best to reduce violent police-community interactions and elevate community voices when it comes to public safety. Urban Institute scholars will moderate the discussion and share findings from their research on body-worn cameras, high police presence communities, and violence reduction strategies.
