Making Law on Mars
Say you wanted to build a legal system from scratch. How would you do it? As humans venture into the solar system to colonize new planets, far from any existing government, that question is going to present itself in dramatic new ways. And while Martian colonies may be a ways off, the question is already confronting experts and governments here on planet Earth, thanks to innovations like seasteading and charter cities. In this session, experts will examine the challenges of creating new legal regimes from scratch and discuss how competitive governance and rapid innovation can help improve legal systems new and old.
