Richard: “I will talk to my guys, but they’re not going to be happy about it.”

Jack Barker: “No, of course not, they’re engineers.”

Not just one of the funnier quips from Silicon Valley, it’s a conundrum every founder faces: Building an engaged, functioning, and happy technical team is really hard.

Steve Herrod is among the handful who have stuck the landing on growing a technical team by two orders of magnitude. He joined VMware at 70 people and built the engineering squad out to 3,000 people strong.

Steve will share the sometimes painful, always valuable lessons learned. You’ll walk out of this session better prepared to recruit, retain and grow a stellar technical team.
