Semi-Autonomous Cars: How to Train the Humans
We knew this day would come: the first tragedy has occurred in a semi-autonomous car. Media reports say the driver was watching a movie instead of keeping his eyes on the road. We know that semi-autonomous vehicles are statistically safer than manually driven ones, but how can we encourage drivers to assess their risks accurately and keep attention in a semi-autonomous environment -- and advance the safety gains we’ve won with autonomous technologies?
