Legal Issues in the Virtual Workplace
Laptops, video conferencing, the global workforce and many other factors are making traditional offices as anachronistic as typewriters and printed newspapers. Virtual workplaces also raise legal questions as the traditional 9-5 can be as dated as the Dolly Parton song.
This talk will explore the legal challenges posed by these innovative workforce arrangements and the implications for employers with respect to cross-border legal issues, confidentiality, wage and hour compliance, and compliance with anti-discrimination laws. This talk will also discuss the creation of policies to govern virtual workplace environments that can help employers reduce legal risk.
