You know how you sometimes just want a break from reality and an escape to somewhere that's all good, fun and a bit of an adventure? Salt & Straw serves up ice cream that takes you there. The company started in Portland, OR in May 2011 and now has three scoop shops in Portland, two in LA...and will soon be opening a new concept in Portland’s Pine Street Market. Before founding Salt & Straw, Kim held positions at Starbucks Coffee, Yahoo! and Adidas in marketing, community outreach and product management and development. Most recently she worked on a new online music service in conjunction with Bono of U2 at (RED) to raise money to help end AIDS in Africa.

Following a successful career in the action sports industry including VF Corp, Gotcha and President of surfing giant Quiksilver, Shaheen has taken his international expertise to the unconventional place of community revitalization and redevelopment. His initial project, the LAB Anti-Mall, now 23 years “young,” continues to garner international acclaim. Other notable projects include the first “green” retail center, the CAMP, which more than 10 years later still inspires the market place for sustainability and environmentalism. Shaheen is also responsible for the development of SoBECA (South of Bristol, Entertainment, Culture, and Arts), which is a thriving retail and residential arts district within Costa Mesa. His projects include The BOX, Gods and Heroes, SOLO (a creative co-op workspace), DAX Gallery, and The Plant Stand.
