Dick Huey is the founder of Toolshed, based in NYC since 2001. Toolshed advises major consumer brands, media, tech, sports, artists, entertainment companies, and digital music services on digital strategy and rights acquisition and usage issues.

Toolshed has provided strategic advisory services to Tunecore, The Orchard, SoundExchange, Beggars Group, Red Bull Music Radio, Red Mountain Resort, and Digital Rights Agency to name a few. His digital license acquisition clients have included Spotify and 8tracks. He is a strategic digital licensing advisor to Merge Records.

Toolshed also advises artists on social media strategy and grassroots marketing/direct-to-fanToolshed has orchestrated over 350 digital and social media growth campaigns for artists such as The Civil Wars, MNDR, Ani DiFranco, Sufjan Stevens, The Arcade Fire, Aimee Mann, and Sam Spiegel / N.A.S.A..

He started his career as a music manager, signed several bands to the Beggars Group, and subsequently started and built the new media department at the Beggars Group in the late 90's as global head of digital.

He is a founding new media committee member for the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM), the current board president of the Future of Music organization, a past 9-year board member representing Matador Records at Soundexchange, and a past board member at CASH Music, which builds open source music technology for artists.

Huey's newest project, Syndicated Planet, is a product development partnership with manager Michael Hausman (Aimee Mann, Suzanne Vega).

In music circles Sharky Laguana is probably best known as the founder of the indie-rock band Creeper Lagoon, which existed in the late 90’s and was largely a dismal failure but did manage a couple highlights such as being named Best New Artist by SPIN magazine in 1998 (magazines were a thing back then).
Recently he authored a series of articles on streaming royalties, including “How To Make Streaming Royalties Fair(er)” and "Streaming Music Is Ripping You Off", both of which went viral attracting several hundred thousand readers.
Currently he is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Bandago, the largest provider of tour vans in the USA.
