How can engaging people with disabilities help your bottom line? Outdated perceptions and communication gaps alienate this group; however, the global population has crossed one billion and it's estimated that 1 in 4 of today's 20 year-olds will have a disability before they retire. Are you prepared to engage a customer with a disability? What happens when a prospective employee has a disability? People with disabilities are underserved, yet they are a loyal and growing consumer base. Understand how to respect and integrate people with disabilities to not only enhance your business, but expand your own horizons. It's not just the right thing to do, it's an investment in your future success.

My dad was paralyzed in a car accident when I was 12, and I later realized that not everyone in our situation or with some other disability would be able to adapt and thrive like we did. A 2008 Harvard University graduate, I volunteered with disability communities in Asia and Africa, and gained a sense of the common struggles across geographic areas. I am dedicated to building bridges between people with and without disabilities for a more inclusive, equitable society.
I also launched AbleThrive.com to curate resources for living well with a disability from people, organizations, companies and hospitals around the world to make it easier for people to find life-changing support and information. I am a 2014 Echoing Green Global Fellow.
I love passion-driven people and all things social impact. I also love traveling and connecting with new people.Hide the rest
