When your proof of concept / prototype is fully functional, it is easy to think that you’re ready for manufacturing at scale. But your prototype typically uses expensive or unreliable techniques that won't work on a manufacturing line. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) is the integration of product design and process planning into one common, replicable goal or activity. The goal is to design a product that is easily and economically manufactured again and again. Explore some of the common manufacturing mistakes companies can avoid before going to market with their hardware product.
