Though mathematicians and computer scientists have a pretty good vocabulary for describing problems in terms of computational complexity, much less effort has been devoted to approaching data visualization in terms of problem "hardness". This panel will bring together visualization practitioners and theorists to talk about their strategies for approaching new projects, what factors they draw from to classify a problem as 'basically solved' versus challenging and worth additional effort.
