Claudia Williams is Senior Advisor for Health Technology and Innovation at the White House, in the Office of Science and Technology Policy. In this role she galvanizes the blue button movement which now gives more than 150 million Americans access to their own digital health data and collaborates with private and public partnersthat are leveraging HITECH, new payment models and open data to remake the digital landscape in health care, producing cost savings, health improvements and new business opportunities.

Claudia previously led the health information exchange portfolio and team for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), providing strategic direction to ONC’s efforts to rapidly enable information exchange to achieve meaningful use and improve health care. Prior to joining ONC, she was Director of Health Policy and Public Affairs at the Markle Foundation, where she led Connecting for Health, a 100 member public-private collaborative of tech, provider, consumer and health plan leaders working to improve health and health care through health IT.

She holds an MS in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health and a BA from Duke University.

Dr. Kass-Hout, a leader in the fields of health informatics and analytics for two decades, is currently the first Chief Health Informatics Officer of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He leads innovations, such as openFDA and precisionFDA, and is an advocate for cross-cutting regulatory science initiatives at FDA. OpenFDA is a big data cloud platform that provides open-source Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that has allowed software developers, researchers, FDA scientists, and the public to tap into adverse events, recalls, and labeling for medical products on the market. PrecisionFDA is a community sourced, cloud-based informatics platform designed to advance the science and collaboration needed to ensure that genomic tests provide accurate and reliable genetic results. PrecisionFDA is part of President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative. Additionally, his responsibilities include serving as Ex Officio to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). Dr. Kass-Hout also serves as the chair of the Scientific and Research Domain Steering Committee across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Taha holds a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Science (Biostatistics) from the University of Texas.
