The Power of Perception: Media and Women in Tech

Sunday, March 13
12:30PM - 1:30PM

Hilton Austin Downtown
Salon F
500 E 4th St

The lack of women in tech has become a hot topic in the media. From the Ellen Pao trial coverage to Susan Wojcicki being asked about her children while male CEO's are treated differently, the media plays a huge and sometimes problematic role in portraying the cause of women in tech. This session will cover the good, the bad and the just plain silly on the media’s coverage of women in technology. It will delve into the stereotypes the media sometimes perpetuates, and it will also offer ideas on how to change it.
