While roadblocks for women in tech continue to get in the way, it's time to ask ourselves if we're taking the right approach. By continually talking about females in the industry, we actually limit them by including an unnecessarily qualifying adjective. A “female” CTO, “female” engineer, a “female” coder: when will we allow these titles - and women - to stand on their own?

Laura is the software engineering director for eBay’s New Product Development San Francisco Office. As the 2014/2015 President of eBay Women In Technology (eWIT) she has put together programs that engage women by providing crucial technical and leadership capability development. eWIT also heavily engages the Silicon Valley community to support the growth of girls in exploring careers and skills development in technology. During her previous 12 years at PayPal and StubHub, Laura, an engineering director, has been passionate about building world-class technology platforms and recruiting and growing top talent engineers and leaders. Laura was the 2012/2013 Chair of the PayPal Technology and eBay CIO Office Mentoring Program where she connected hundreds of protégés with knowledgeable mentors each year.
